Earlier this summer at a picnic table in
Henryville, we started making plans for this trip. The 3rd weekend of October a bunch of us
hit the highways and ventured to Mammoth Cave National Park for a weekend
get-a-way! We traveled to Double J Stables on the
outskirts of the Park. I have to say, probably one of the friendliest
places we've been! I've been trail riding at some cool places, but this
was great! Turn out lots, lots of stalls, clean bath house, and great
company!
The weather was perfect, and the trails
were awesome! A great time of year to ride! A few leaves had fallen,
but still lots and lots of color. Well marked trails with varying types of terrain. We were
able to sneak a ride off Friday afternoon for a few hours. As usual, we
ate very very well, and had a great camp fire. Some good stories, a few
bad jokes mixed with classics, and lots of stars. After a breakfast fit
for a King, we went riding! Saturday's ride was amazing! I'm
not sure how far we rode, but I heard 20+ miles. With great trail
guides, we never took a wrong turn. We had a neat little campsite to break
for lunch as Mike and Easton explored the surrounding terrain. Rod found a
huge snake. He said it was about 8' long, kind of looked like a garden
hose!!!!!
We would all like to Thank everyone for
a great weekend! Tracy & Jack for all the great food, Janice's
pancakes were wonderful too! Thanks Sherry for packing our lunch Saturday
on Bucky! Thanks Mike for bring our lunch! Show, for hauling the Pimpster
II, it rocks! (Still can't get the door open!) Dan & Barb for the
great company, peppermint sticks & Slim Jim's. Gunner, for another
wonderful ride. Jack, hope the thumb is doing OK.
