Kit has been doing great!  What a great horse!  We took her to Henryville on Saturday 6/5/04 for a long trail ride!  She did very well.  Henryville has a lot of different terrain that we just don't have here around the farm.  Since Kit's owner's often ride at the State Park's it was important to us for her to do well!  Click on the link below for more pictures of this ride!

Saturday 6/05/04 Henryville

We had a lot of complements on Kit, on how well she's doing.  She hesitated on a few of the mud holes and creeks, but nothing we weren't expecting.  She's almost ready!!!

A few pictures from a short trail ride we took with Kit.  She had a long work out this day in the round pen.  She's taking everything every well!  Even the 4 Wheeler we passed didn't bother her!

Some pictures of her last ride in the round pen!  She's picked up all her que's now, it's time for the real world of trail riding!

Kit has adjusted very well to the barn.  With the exception of her breaking shipping halters and running down the road.  She seems to have figured out how to get loose.  She gets impatient and starts throwing a fit if you don't feed her fast enough.  The last encounter it took us almost a half hour to catch her.  Not to mention the bump on her head.  In the panic of thrashing around while tied to the hitching rail she hit her head.  She's fine, don't worry!

Her first trail ride attempt went ok, not the best, but there have been worse.  We decided to go back to the round pen to work on communication.  It seems to be working.  We had a great work out the other day.  I rode her in the round pen for about 1/2 hour.  She seems to need a gentle touch with the bit and responds best to light pressure.  Although we had a rough start this day, we ended up on a good note!  She even got a bath!
